How to configure Links & Code Setup
Last updated: October 9, 2026
Overview
Configuring a Link & Code Setup means filling in a single 4-step form that defines how a reward works: the discount your referred customers get, how and when creators earn, the safety rules that protect against fraud, and any cashback. Once saved, you can assign the setup to as many programs, SuperBriefs, or creators as you like.
To open it, go to Link & Code Setup in the sidebar and click New Link & Code Setup, or open an existing setup and click Edit. The same form is used whether you're creating or editing.
This same form also powers promotions. When you create a promotion on a setup, it opens this form pre-filled with the current settings; you adjust the promotion-specific values, which are saved as a temporary override for the promotion window. See Promotions.
Use this feature when you want to:
Define the discount referred customers receive through a creator's link
Set how and when creators earn their reward
Add safety rules to prevent code leakage and fraud
Enable a cashback (loyalty) reward for customers
Important behaviors
One form, four steps. The same form covers discount rules, the Superfiliate reward, safety rules, and cashback.
Edits apply immediately. If the setup is already assigned, saving changes propagates to everything using it right away. There's no "publish later" step.
Step-by-step
1. Name your setup
Give it a clear, recognizable name (internal only). Tip: include the campaign or season so it's easy to spot in the list.
2. Step 1 — Set discount rules for referred customers
This defines the discount the referred customer receives.
Discount type — Order discount (the whole order), Product discount (specific products or collections you choose), or Buy X, Get Y (the customer buys specific products to unlock a discount on others).
Discount amount — $ (fixed) or % (percentage, max 100).
Minimum requirement — a minimum cart value or a minimum product quantity.
Apply to new customers only — on = first-time customers only; off = returning customers qualify too.
Discount redemption — just once (default) or multiple times per customer.
Subscription options (subscription shops only) — which purchase types qualify and how many recurring payments the discount applies to.
Discount combinations — which discounts can stack (product, order, and/or shipping).
Collections — attach the collections or products that define your discount type.
3. Step 2 — Set the Superfiliate reward
This defines how and when creators earn.
Minimum conversion value — the order subtotal (after discount) that qualifies a conversion.
Reward currency — store credit (default) or payouts.
Reward value — $ or % (max 100).
Advanced options — reward returning customers, reward subscription renewals, redeem limit per order, include shipping/taxes, reward delay, and attribution window.
4. Step 3 — Protect with safety rules
Unique codes via creator link — auto-applies a one-time, unique code at checkout so creators share links, not reusable codes, preventing code leakage.
Freeze suspicious activity — freezes affected commissions and notifies you in the Activity Center; can be scoped to specific traffic sources.
5. Step 4 — Set loyalty rewards (cashback)
Cashback credit — the % of the order customers earn back (we recommend 5–10%).
Cashback expiration — how long they have to use it (we recommend 90–365 days; default 365).
6. Save and apply
Click Save. The setup appears in the list as Unassigned until you connect it to a program, SuperBrief, or creator.
Setting up codes
How a creator's code itself is generated is set in Code Setup when you create a program, SuperBrief, or independent code:
Prefix and suffix — optional text you add that wraps every code (for example, a VIP- prefix). They're always applied to the codes generated for that program, SuperBrief, or creator.
Creator-suggested codes — you can let creators suggest their own code. When this is on, the creator chooses the main part of the code and your prefix and suffix still wrap it, with a live preview of the final code. This is off unless you turn it on.
Uppercase — codes are always shown in uppercase.
Changes apply going forward — editing the prefix, suffix, or format affects codes created afterward; existing codes keep their current value.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1. What's the difference between the three discount types?
A. Order discount applies to the whole order. Product discount applies only to specific products or collections you choose. Buy X, Get Y requires the customer to buy specific products first to unlock a discount on others.
Q2. Do my edits affect programs that already use the setup?
A. Yes, immediately. Saving changes propagates to everything assigned right away, so test carefully on busy production setups.
Q3. Store credit or payouts — what's the difference?
A. Store credit is redeemable in your store; payouts are monetary and handled through your payout setup. You choose per setup in Step 2.
Q4. Can a creator choose their own code?
A. Only if you turn on creator-suggested codes in Code Setup. The creator picks the main part of the code, your prefix and suffix still wrap it, and the final code is always shown in uppercase.
