Bulk Emails – Understanding Bulk & Automations Email Metrics

Last updated: August 17, 2026

Overview

After sending a bulk email, Superfiliate tracks its performance across key engagement milestones: delivery, opens, clicks, and replies. Metrics are displayed on the detail page for each sent email batch, including a visual engagement funnel.

Use this feature when you want to:

  • Evaluate how a bulk email performed after sending

  • Understand delivery and engagement rates at a glance

  • Compare funnel drop-off from sent through to reply

  • Identify a cohort (e.g. non-openers) to re-target

In this article, you will learn:

  • How to access bulk email metrics

  • What each metric means and how it is calculated

  • How the engagement funnel works

  • How to send new messages to a cohort

  • Limitations of reply rate tracking

Requirements

Make sure that:

  • You have sent at least one bulk or automation email through Communications → Email → Bulk

  • The email has a Sent status

Metrics overview

When you open a sent bulk email, the top of the detail page displays five metric cards:

Metric

What it measures

How it is calculated

Total Sent

The number of emails dispatched

Raw count of emails sent

Delivered

The percentage of sent emails that were successfully delivered

Delivered ÷ Sent

Open Rate

The percentage of delivered emails that were opened

Opened ÷ Delivered

Click Rate

The percentage of delivered emails where a link was clicked

Clicked ÷ Delivered

Reply Rate

The percentage of delivered emails that received a reply

Replied ÷ Delivered

Below the metric cards, an Engagement funnel chart visualizes the drop-off across five stages: Sent → Delivered → Opened → Clicked → Replied. Each bar shows the absolute count and its percentage relative to total sent, making it easy to see where engagement drops off.

Step-by-step

  1. Viewing metrics for a sent email

  • Go to Communications → Email → Bulk.

  • Find the email batch you want to review in the table. You can search by subject line using the search bar.

  • Click the row or use the three-dot menu (· · ·) and select See details.

  • The detail page displays the metric cards at the top and the engagement funnel below.

  1. Reading the engagement funnel

  • The funnel shows five bars, from left to right: Sent, Delivered, Opened, Clicked, Replied.

  • Each bar displays:

  • The count (number of emails at that stage) above the bar.

  • The stage label below the bar.

  • The percentage relative to total sent below the label.

  • The bars visually decrease in size to represent drop-off at each stage.

  1. Reviewing the email content

  • Below the metrics, the detail page shows the full email as sent: subject, body with variables replaced, and any attachments.

  • A contact list on the right lets you switch between recipients to see the personalized version each creator received.

  1. Sending a new email to a cohort

  • Filter the recipients table by status (e.g. Delivered but Not Opened) and number of sends

  • Select the contacts you want to send a new email to

  • Click on "send a new message"

  • Setup and send your new email

Important limitations

  • Reply Rate is Gmail or Outlook only
Reply tracking is only available for recipients using Gmail or Outlook. A "Gmail or Outlook only" badge appears next to the Reply Rate metric. If reply data is not available for a batch, a lock icon is displayed instead of a percentage.

  • Metrics are not available for older emails
Emails sent before engagement tracking was enabled will show dashes (–) instead of metric values.

  • Metrics are read-only
You cannot edit or reset metrics. They reflect the actual engagement data collected after sending.

Understanding email statuses

The bulk email table shows a status badge for each email batch:

Status

Meaning

Sent

Email has been successfully sent to all recipients

Sending

Email send is currently in progress

Scheduled

Email is scheduled for delivery on the selected date

Draft

Email has been saved as a draft and not yet sent

Importing list

Recipient list is being imported; the email will be sent or scheduled upon completion

Cancelled

Email has been cancelled

You can delete emails that are in Draft, Scheduled, or Importing list status using the three-dot menu (· · ·) → Delete.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1. Why does Reply Rate show a lock icon?
A. Reply Rate tracking requires recipients to be using Gmail. If none of the recipients in a batch use Gmail, or if reply data is not yet available, a lock icon is displayed with a "Gmail only" badge.

Q2. Why do my metrics show dashes instead of numbers?
A. This happens for emails sent before Superfiliate enabled engagement tracking. Metrics are only available for batches sent after that feature was activated.

Q3. How is Open Rate calculated — is it based on sent or delivered?
A. Open Rate, Click Rate, and Reply Rate are all calculated as a percentage of delivered emails, not total sent. This gives a more accurate picture of engagement among emails that actually reached recipients.

Q4. Can I export email metrics?
A. At this time, metrics are viewable within Superfiliate only and cannot be exported.

Q5. How quickly do metrics update after sending?
A. Metrics update as engagement events are received from the email provider. Opens and clicks typically appear within minutes to hours of delivery. Reply tracking depends on when recipients respond.
