Managing Content Rights (Updated)
Last updated: August 26, 2026
The Content Rights area helps you manage the usage rights of creator content used in paid media. In the updated experience, rights are managed per individual media item — giving you far more control than the previous collection-level approach.
Content Rights is a management and warning tool. It does not automatically block content from being used — instead, it keeps you organized and alerts you when content is approaching or past its licensed window, helping you avoid using assets you no longer have rights to.
What's new
- Rights live at the media level. Every piece of media now carries its own rights status and validity window. You no longer have to apply one setting to an entire collection.
- Bulk management. Select multiple media at once and apply rights (Unlimited or a custom window) to all of them in a single action.
- Creator assignment is separate from rights. Media can be uploaded without a creator and assigned later — individually or in bulk. Managing rights no longer depends on having a creator set.
- Status filtering. Filter your media by content-rights status (for example, pending, approved, or denied) to quickly find what needs attention.
- Campaign-level defaults for SuperBrief. Set a default rights model at the campaign level so it applies to all media in the SuperBrief at once, with the ability to override individual items.
Setting content rights on a media item
Once a piece of content has been approved, you can set its usage rights:
- Open the media item from the Content Rights area (or from your Content Library).
- Choose the rights type:
- Unlimited — use when there are no time restrictions on the content.
- Custom — define the number of allowed days and, optionally, a specific start and end date for the usage window.
- Save. The item now displays its current status, including time remaining and whether it's active in any ad campaigns.
Managing rights in bulk
- In the media table, select the items you want to update. You can mix items with different current rights values.
- Open Manage Content Rights.
- Choose Unlimited or Custom, and set the validity window if applicable.
- Apply. The same rights are set across all selected media. If some items can't be updated, you'll see a partial-success message indicating which ones need attention.
Note: media currently in a "requested" state (waiting on the creator) can't be included in a bulk update until the request resolves.
Assigning a creator
Creator assignment is now a separate flow from rights:
- Upload media without a creator — it appears as unassigned.
- Assign a creator later, one item at a time or by selecting several items and assigning one creator to all of them.
- For media tied to an active or completed content-rights request, the original creator is locked to preserve the request record. Media that was simply uploaded (not part of a request) can be reassigned freely.
Tracking usage and expiration
- Each media item shows its usage status: time left in its window and whether it's live in any campaigns or ads.
- Expired content is flagged visually — it is not automatically blocked, so review flags before reusing an asset.
- Notifications are sent when usage rights are about to expire or have already expired.
Filtering and finding media
Use the content-rights status filter in the media table to narrow down items — for example, to see everything with a pending request or everything that's approved and ready to use in ads. When creating Meta Ads, the Manage Ads filter now works at the individual media level, matching the new item-level rights model.
