How to assign or change a Meta Reward Group
Last updated: July 21, 2026
Overview
A Meta Reward Group only takes effect once it's assigned to a Meta ad. You assign a group to one or many ads from Meta Ads → Ads Management, and you can swap it for a different group — or remove it — later from the same place. This article covers assigning, changing, and removing, and explains how editing a shared group affects every ad using it.
Use this feature when you want to:
Apply a Reward Group to one or many Meta ads
Switch an ad to a different Reward Group
Remove a Reward Group from an ad so the creator stops earning on it
Understand how editing a shared group affects every ad using it
Important behaviors
Assigning happens in Ads Management, not on the Reward Groups page.
You can assign to many ads at once by selecting them and using the bulk action bar.
A Reward Group can be shared across ads. Editing the group's values affects every ad using it.
Only active Reward Groups can be assigned. Archived groups won't appear in the picker.
Changing an ad's group is a replace — assigning a new group swaps out the current one, and it applies immediately.
The assigned group appears in the Reward group column of the ads table (or "-" if none).
Step-by-step
Assign a Reward Group to your Meta ads
Go to Meta Ads → Ads Management.
Select the ad(s) you want to reward — tick one or several.
In the bulk action bar, click Assign reward group.
In the Assign Reward group modal, pick an existing group from the dropdown, or click Create new to build one on the spot.
Click Save. You'll see confirmation that the group was assigned to the selected ads, and the Reward group column updates.
Change the Reward Group on an ad
Go to Meta Ads → Ads Management and find the ad.
Open the assign action again (from the ad's row actions, or by selecting the ad and clicking Assign reward group).
Choose a different Reward Group — this replaces the current one.
Click Save. The swap applies to that ad immediately. There's no separate compare-and-confirm step — the new group takes over as soon as you save.
Remove a Reward Group from an ad
Find the ad that has a Reward Group assigned.
Open the ad's actions and choose Remove reward group.
Confirm. The ad is left with no group, and the creator stops earning commission on that ad going forward.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1. Where do I assign a Reward Group to a Meta ad?
A. In Meta Ads → Ads Management. Select one or more ads and click Assign reward group in the bulk action bar. There's no assignment step on the Reward Groups page itself.
Q2. Can I edit the commission values from the ad?
A. No. From the ad you choose which group is assigned; you edit the group's actual values (commission %, earning thresholds) on the Reward Group itself. Those edits apply to every ad using that group.
Q3. What happens when I change an ad's Reward Group?
A. It's replaced immediately — assigning a new group swaps out the old one as soon as you save. To leave an ad with no reward, use Remove reward group instead.
Q4. Why doesn't my Reward Group show up in the picker?
A. Only active groups can be assigned. If a group is archived, it won't appear — unarchive it first.
