How to assign or change a Program's Reward Group

Overview

A Reward Group only takes effect once it's assigned to a program. You assign a group when you create a program, and you can swap it for a different group later from the program's settings. Because promotions now live on the Reward Group, the group a program uses also determines which promotion applies to it.

This article covers both, and explains why a program's reward settings are read-only.

  • Assigning happens in the program, not on the Reward Groups page.

  • A Reward Group can be shared across programs. Editing the group affects every program using it.

  • Inside a program, the assigned group is read-only. You choose or swap which group is used, but you edit its actual values on the group's own detail page.

  • Changing a program's group is a replace/swap and applies immediately. Swapping also changes which reward-group promotion the program is subject to.

Step-by-step

Assign a Reward Group when creating a program

Assigning is part of program creation. In the new-program wizard's Rewards step (Program Step 2), pick an existing Reward Group or create a new one. If the group is already used elsewhere, you'll be reminded that changes to it affect every program using it.

Change the Reward Group on an existing program

  1. Open the program and go to Settings → Rewards.

  2. The current group is shown read-only with its status. To edit its values, click Go to Reward Group to open its detail page.

  3. Click the pencil icon next to Selected Reward Group.

  4. In the comparison modal, choose a different Reward Group and review the current-vs-new differences.

  5. Confirm to replace it. The swap applies to the program immediately.
