How to set default content rights in a SuperBrief
Last updated: October 30, 2026
What it is: Set default content rights once on a SuperBrief, and every new piece of content that enters the brief's collection in your Content Library automatically gets those usage rights. No more setting rights on each asset by hand. You can also give individual creators their own rights when their agreement is different.
Who it's for: teams that run creator campaigns with a standard usage agreement (for example, "90 days of paid usage") and want every approved asset from the brief to carry those rights from day one.
How it works
New content inherits the defaults. When a file enters the brief's Content collection, it takes the brief's default rights at that moment.
Existing content is never changed. If you edit the defaults later, content already in the collection keeps the rights it had. Only content added afterwards gets the new defaults.
Creators can have their own rights. In a personalized brief, you can override the main brief's rights for one creator. Creators without an override follow the main brief.
Each item can be edited on its own. Changing one item's rights doesn't affect other items or the brief's defaults.
Set default content rights for a brief
Go to Campaigns > SuperBriefs and open the brief.
Open the brief's actions menu and click Edit main brief.
Find the Content rights card and click Edit.
Turn content rights on and choose the rights type:
Unlimited: no time restriction on how long you can use the content.
Custom: set a number of allowed days, a specific start and end date, or both.
Click Save in the drawer, then click Save changes on the brief.
The Content rights card now shows a summary of the defaults you configured. These defaults apply to every creator in the brief unless you override them for a specific creator.
Set different rights for one creator
Use this when a creator has negotiated different usage terms from the rest of the campaign.
In the brief, select the creator and click Personalize Brief.
On the Content rights card, click Edit and turn on Override main brief. The creator's rights start as a copy of the main brief's defaults.
Change the rights for this creator: choose Unlimited or Custom, or turn content rights off for them.
Save the personalized brief.
From then on, new content from this creator gets their personalized rights. Changes to the main brief's defaults no longer affect them.
Creators without an override keep following the main brief, including any later changes to its defaults.
Turning the override off makes the creator follow the main brief again for new content. Content they already submitted keeps its rights.
Content with no creator assigned (for example, a file you upload yourself) follows the main brief's defaults.
When content inherits the defaults
Content gets the current defaults (the creator's override if they have one, otherwise the main brief's) at the moment it enters the brief's Content collection:
Creator uploads without approval: if the deliverable doesn't require your review, the file enters the collection as soon as the creator submits it.
Creator uploads with approval: the file stays out of the collection while it's pending review. When you approve it (in Creators > Deliverables Review), it enters the collection with the defaults in place at approval time, not at submission time.
Files you move into the brief's collection: in the Content Library, open a file's row menu, choose Move to another collection and select the brief's collection.
Social content: tracked posts get the defaults when you import or move them into the brief's collection. Linking a tracked post to a deliverable doesn't add it to the collection on its own.
Change, disable or re-enable the defaults
Change the defaults: follow the same steps and save. Only content added from now on gets the new rights.
Disable content rights: new content enters the collection without rights. Content that already has rights keeps them.
Re-enable content rights: your previous defaults come back, and new content inherits them again.
Edit the rights of a single item
Open the brief's Content collection in your Content Library.
Open the item's row menu and click Set usage rights.
Choose the rights you want and save.
Only that item changes. Other items and the brief's defaults stay the same.
Tip: switch to Table view and scroll right to the Content rights column to check the rights on every item at a glance.
FAQ
Will changing the defaults update content already in the brief?
No. Existing content keeps its rights. To change them, edit items individually or use bulk management in the Content Library. Why does some content show "Not set"?
It entered the collection before content rights were enabled for the brief (or for that creator), or while they were disabled. Set its rights individually. Can one creator have different rights from the rest of the campaign?
Yes. Personalize their brief and turn on Override main brief on the Content rights card. See Set different rights for one creator above.I changed the main brief's defaults. Why didn't a creator's new content pick them up?
That creator probably has an override in their personalized brief. Turn the override off to make them follow the main brief again.Does content rights block content from being used?
No. Content Rights is a management and warning tool: it keeps you organized and alerts you when content is close to or past its usage window. See Managing Content Rights (Updated).
